The term liberalism is tossed about quite liberally (pun intended) to cover a wide range of topics. There are individuals who are socially liberal, economically liberal, classical liberals, liberal feminists, and many other kinds. In American politics, all forms of liberalism tend to be grouped together. The conventional thought is that if you believe in one style of liberalism, you believe in all styles of liberalism. However, the pressing question becomes, is that actually true? Can someone only hold liberal views on one topic? Can the forms of liberalism exist separately? Or must they always exist together in a society or government?
